PANASONIC KX-TDA200 OVERVIEW

To better understand the KX-TDA200, it would be helpful to first read about the KX-TDA100 because the KX-TDA200 is simple a larger version of the KX-TDA100. It has the same features and functionality.

When the KX-TDA200 was originally released, it was described as being a PBX of approximately 200 ports. Newer versions of the product or systems that have been upgraded to the latest software, may capitalize on a feature called DXDP, which can double the station capacity. DXDP stands for Digital eXtra Device Port. The feature allows for one Digital Telephone to plug into the back of another Digital Telephone thereby creating 2 totally separate extensions. 

The KX-TDA200 is best suited for installations in large estate homes, medium to large size businesses, hotels, and larger luxury motor yachts over 50 meters in length. The KX-TDA200 supports a variety of Trunking options such as POTS Lines (Plain Old Telephone Service), T1, ISDN-PRI and H.323. Adding certain option cards allows IP Phones and IP Gateways to be implemented.

The KX-TDA200 has a station capacity of 128 without DXDP and 256 with DXDP. To realize 256 extension ports, a Memory Expansion Card must be installed. 

The maximum number of phone lines (trunks) from a carrier is 128 but the only way to reach 128 phone lines is to use all POTS and/or H.323 IP service. Here’s how it works: You can use up to 8 card slots for trunk-related circuits. Each analog trunk or IP card counts as 1 card slot. Each digital card counts as 2 card slots even though the card only occupies 1 physical slot. The maximum number of circuits on an analog trunk card or IP card is 16. T1 cards have 24 voice channels per card and ISDN-PRI cards have 23 voice channels per card. Below, is an example of how one might reach maximum capacities using several different technologies at once.

To summarize, the KX-TDA200 is a very good choice for many medium to large businesses and large estates that might use IP related services in the future. IP services such as VoIP extensions and VoIP Gateways are adding by installing circuit cards.

If you plan to implement IP features immediately, the KX-TDE200 might be the better choice because VoIP Extensions, VoIP Gateways and SIP Trunking are already built into the processor. Activating these resources is as easy as plugging in an inexpensive DSP (Digital Speech Processor) card and purchasing a one-time license. Overall, IP on the KX-TDE Series PBX systems is easier and less expensive than on the KX-TDA Series.

Both the KX-TDA200 and the KX-TDE200 may be upgrades to the larger KX-TDA600 or KX-TDE600 product. Most of the circuit cards are interchangeable.
